Movies are uniquely powerful for meeting teens where they are. Young people may not always be eager to sit in a group and immediately talk about anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, identity, substance use, or other difficult experiences. But give them a compelling story and characters they recognize themselves in, and the conversation can change dramatically.
Recovery Movie Meetups can immediately help teens lower their defenses, connect with characters and one another, put words to difficult emotions, and begin talking about their own lives in ways that feel natural rather than forced.
